Folklorico Dance Attire in San Diego County
Folklorico Dance Attire Across San Diego County
Mi Lindo Folklor is a folklorico attire store with a physical shop at 805 51st St in Southeast San Diego. Dancers, dance directors, school programs and cultural organizations across the county buy regional Mexican dance attire here — Jalisco, Veracruz, Michoacán, Sinaloa and Oaxaca pieces, traje de charro suits, folkloric boots and dance shoes, rebozos, and accessories.
Being local matters more in this category than in most. Sizing a full skirt correctly, matching ribbon width across a group of twenty, and confirming that a regional style is actually right for a program are all easier in person than over a shipping label. Customers close to the shop come in and get measured. Everyone else in the county orders with our measuring guide and has it shipped.
San Diego Folklorico Attire
Our storefront is here — 805 51st St, in Southeast San Diego. Encanto, Logan Heights, Barrio Logan, City Heights, Paradise Hills, Chollas View and Oak Park are all within a few minutes, so most customers in these neighborhoods come in, get measured, and take attire home the same day.
Zip codes: 92114, 92113, 92102, 92105
Chula Vista Folklorico Attire
About fifteen minutes south on I-805, covering Third Avenue, Eastlake, Otay Ranch, Rancho del Rey, Terra Nova and Bonita. Downtown Chula Vista holds its Día de los Muertos celebration on Third Avenue each November, and groups performing there order through us from late summer.
Zip codes: 91910, 91911, 91913, 91915
National City Folklorico Attire
The closest neighboring city to the shop — roughly ten minutes by way of SR-54 or I-805, covering Old Town National City, the Kimball Park area, Lincoln Acres and the Paradise Hills line. Close enough that group fittings can be done in a single afternoon.
Zip codes: 91950
Imperial Beach Folklorico Attire
About twenty minutes south on I-5 and SR-75, covering Palm Avenue, Seacoast Drive, Nestor and Egger Highlands. South Bay school programs and community groups here order the same Jalisco and Veracruz sets as the rest of the region.
Zip codes: 91932
Escondido Folklorico Attire
Roughly forty-five minutes north on I-15, covering downtown Escondido, the Grape Day Park area, Felicita and Hidden Meadows. Most Escondido orders ship rather than get picked up, so we plan measurements and lead times around that from the start.
Zip codes: 92025, 92026, 92027, 92029
Oceanside Folklorico Attire
About fifty minutes north on I-5, covering downtown Oceanside, the Mission San Luis Rey area, Fire Mountain and Rancho del Oro. North County group orders ship within the county quickly, but sizing has to be confirmed before the box goes out.
Zip codes: 92054, 92056, 92057, 92058
Three Ways to Order
Come in and be measured. The fastest route for anyone in the South Bay or central San Diego. We take the measurements, check the fit on the actual garment, and you leave with it. For a group, bring the dancers in together and we work through the whole roster in one visit.
Measure at home and we ship. Use our measuring guide to take waist, hip and length, send them over, and we ship from San Diego. This is how most North County and out-of-county orders run.
Group and custom orders. School programs and companies ordering matched sets should start early — see the dance director’s buying guide for sizing sheets and lead times, or go straight to custom orders if you need something built to a specific colorway.
Why San Diego Dance Programs Buy Here
Regional accuracy. A Jalisco dress and a Veracruz dress are not interchangeable, and neither is a costume-shop approximation of either. We stock pieces built to the regional patterns, and we will tell you when a style is wrong for what a program is performing.
Built for performance, not for a photo. Skirts that hold a full turn and return to drape, ribbon trim sewn rather than glued, seams that survive a season of rehearsals. See the care and storage guide for how to keep them that way.
Custom capability. Colorways, group matching, and sizes outside a standard run are all possible — which matters when a program has an existing set to match rather than a blank slate.
An actual storefront. There is somewhere to walk into, try things on, and talk to a person. That is the whole difference between us and a drop-ship catalogue.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to come to the store to order?
No. Customers across the county and nationwide order by measurement and have attire shipped from San Diego. Coming in helps most when sizing is uncertain, when a group needs to be matched, or when a performance date is close enough that there is no time for an exchange.
How far in advance should a group order?
For a matched group of ten or more, start six to eight weeks before the performance date. That covers measuring, the order itself, and one round of size corrections. Individual orders need less, but anything with a custom colorway needs the full window.
Can we try attire on before committing to a group order?
Yes. Directors regularly come in with two or three dancers to check fit and confirm the style before placing the full order. Contact us first so the pieces you want to see are on hand.
Which areas do you actually serve?
The whole of San Diego County, from Imperial Beach to Oceanside, plus nationwide shipping. The areas listed above are simply where most of our walk-in and group business comes from.
Planning attire for a performance?
Tell us the region, the number of dancers and the date, and we will tell you what is realistic.
